Grand Prix of Japan

The Grand Prix of Japan (Round 1) took place on the Roval of Kyoto National Reverse. 22 Racers started in Round 1. Rudy van Buren (Formula Racing Organization, Netherlands) started from first position. In the qualifying session he was over 1 second faster then the Second placed Ondrej Maska (XFusion Racing, Czech Republic). Against all expectations there were no big incidents in the starting phase. Rudy van Buren used his pole positon very well and captured a Flag to Flag victory in the Sprint race.

In the feature race Jack Sedgwick (United Kingdom) and Klaidas Gasiunas (XFusion Racing, Lithuania) collided in Turn 1 after the rolling start, both racers could continue the race. Both did not loose much time, because on Lap 4 Nathan Lamothe (Canada) flipped his car and caused a full-course-yellow. After an accident with This Safety Car period caused a lot of difficulties. Klaidas Gasiunas and Jonathon Pickard (Mercury Racing Team, United Kingdom) should later get a 45-second penalty each for overtaking during the safety car period. Many racers used the caution to pit in, including the leading Rudy van Buren. Ondrej Maska, who was in second position when the caution came out, took the lead because of Rudy van Buren's strategy and restarted the race after 5 caution laps as first. He stayed in first position until his pitstop in lap 22. Rudy van Buren won also the second race of the day. The battle for second position between Ondrej Maska and James Barrington (Sim Racing Society, United Kingdom) ended with a photo finish.

The finish photo showed Maska leading on the line, but it was decided to follow the results as given by Live for Speed software and give it a tie. Jack McIntyre (United Kingdom) and Jack Sedgwick claimed positions 4 and 5.
In the championship Rudy van Buren already has got a 17 point lead over Ondrej Maska and Jack McIntyre. Jack Sedgwick and Timo Hynninen (L'equipe saucisse de foie, Finland) are both on fifth with 26 points behind the leader.
